Getting Down: Bush Style

From a HuffPo poster concerning this picture:

“He acts more and more like Mussolini every day - let us hope history repeats itself in this regard.”

Mussolini was caught dancing like a dummy to some afro-rhythm? I must have missed that chapter in history.

Testimony

The French sure do love their politics. Over 80% of the electorate voted in this preliminary Presidential election? Here in the States, we can barely manage 40%, even in contentious times.

Nicolas Sarkozy looks like he is headed to a runoff with Socialist Segolene Royal, with Sarkozy leading with 30% of the popular vote. It is rather odd to think that an individual can run an entire country with less than 30% of the vote, but that is France for you.

Not that anyone cares, but I am hoping for a Sarkozy victory in the run-off election. I recently finished reading his book Testimony, and was quite impressed with his moderate and centrist stance and pro-American attitude and his plans to liberalize the French economy. Perhaps we will be seeing a change in the stale French political class with his coming election.
