This video is John McCain’s platform in a condensed 1 hour interview. I understand that most of the folks that happen to read this blog are not supporters of McCain, and I can understand their reasons why. However, I think that this video best represents his points of view, and is worth a watch even if you are opposed to the man’s policies on every level. The man hits on everything from liberal democracy to health care, and is worth an hour of your time.
God bless Charlie Ross and public broadcasting! If only all of our “talking head” programs could be this in-depth.

I am a dedicated X-Men reader, and I have loved the recent X-Men: First Class book that Marvel has been putting out. Rather than the convoluted history that comes with the X-books, this comic gives readers simple stories that revel in the fun and excitement that got us all into comics in the first place.
Some of the recent issues have contained stories by Colleen Cover, who is quickly becoming one of my favorite comic artists. As Bully says, she draws characters like they would look if they were teens and treats them as such in the stories. The above image is from one of these back stories and is well worth a read even if you hate mainstream comics. Let’s just hope Marvel keeps putting out these fun and lighthearted features in the future.

One of the world’s greatest Jazz drummers died last week, and I was completely oblivious to it. Thanks to TinyMixTapes for the heads up.
Max Roach died on August the 16th in Manhattan. During his life, he worked with most of the great Jazz musicians of the time, helped further the art’s development, and was a vocal civil rights activist. The man lived a full life.
I will be playing what I feel is Roach’s greatest live recording: Jazz at Massey Hall. Just a small way to honor this great musician.

Named after the central chant of Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism, the most recent Acid Mothers Temple record stands as yet another incredible piece of music in their already great catalog.
The band is known for their slow buildups, but this record may make the rest of their work look like 3 minute pop songs. The entire record is one long 65 minute track, and that gives them enough time to fit a slew of movements into this bad boy.
With over 40 released records under their belt, a band like Acid Mothers Temple can be difficult to get into. Not only do they have no “singles” or pop related tune, they also have a varied catalog that isn’t always top notch. This record however, is just that. If you want to check out some incredible psychedelic music from the Asian continent, this is a record you need to buy. Heck, if you like music that is different, you should give this a shot.
Not terribly surprising, but unfortunate none the less.
Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - The few reports emerging from Gaza regarding the area's tiny Christian minority indicate that Palestinian followers of Jesus are under increasing pressure to either become Muslims, submit to Islamic law or leave the Gaza Strip.
Hamas, an Islamic terrorist group that won last year's Palestinian parliamentary elections, completed a military takeover of the Gaza Strip in June, handily defeating its rivals in Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement.
Following the conquest, spokesmen and various local officials affiliated with Hamas announced that an era of strict Islamic rule had begun in Gaza.
According to a report in Middle East Newsline last week, Hamas and its followers are moving fast against non-believers in the area. Fatah officials who spoke to the news service on condition of anonymity said Hamas is pressing leaders of the 2,000-strong Christian community to either convert to Islam or emigrate.
