Have you heard anything about this book, "Just How Stupid Are We? by Rick Shenkman? His findings are not particularly novel but still need to be publicized:
*Only 2 out of 5 citizens can name the three branches of the federal government.
*Only 1 in 7 can find Iraq on a map.
*Only 1 in 5 know that we have 100 US senators.
etc.
Some would dismiss this as mere trivia. But if you lack this sort of basic information, how can you develop complex and nuanced ideas about domestic and foreign policy?
Born of parents both recently and distantly American, I was once an activist and advocate for the socialist left. Nowadays, I am a defender of the "Responsibility to Protect" who stands for universal rights and liberty.
