The ultra-nationalist Serb leader Radovan Karadzic has finally been arrested. From CNN:“Karadzic, 63, was the Serb political leader during the 1992-1995 war that followed Bosnia-Herzegovina's secession from Yugoslavia. He is charged with genocide, crimes against humanity and violations of the law of war.
No details of his arrest were immediately available. But the chief prosecutor for the U.N. tribunal, Serge Brammertz, called it "an important day for the victims" and congratulated Serbian authorities for taking him into custody.”
Karadzic had been on the run for years, although he was sighted in and around Serbia and Russia on a few occasions. His indictment from the UN can be found here. With his capture, Ratko Mladic is the last leading Serb chief wanted for war crimes.

I wonder how long the trail will take? Milosevic style or Saddam style (though obviously the course of punishment won't be as severe as in Saddam's case).

Daniel: I assume that his trial will not be like Saddam’s, and I hope it isn’t. As happy as I am to see tyrants’ dead, making a mess of the legal system makes no sense in my opinion. If they wanted to just take him out back and finish him, I would prefer they not do it under the guise of international law.
NeoConstant: An “alternative health specialist” is a bit too rich in my opinion. Who would have thought a soulless murderer would be into alternative medicine?
I missed this news being out of the country and shunning tv, internet and papers. It's great news. I hope Mladic is captured soon so that both can live long, miserable lives dropping soap...
