Obama’s Endless Media Pass

I hate to sound like some of these right-wing cranks on the radio that complain about media bias non-stop, but this kind of thing is really starting to get on my nerves. The HomeSickAmerican gave me the heads up to this story about a piece done by Martha Raddatz for ABC news. She was doing a story in Iraq, and asked a group of 60 soldiers who they would be voting for this election. 54 said McCain, 3 Obama, and 2 Clinton. So it was rather surprising when ABC aired the piece, there was “a dissertation on McCain’s trip and speech, ABC showed 5 GI’s being asked by Raddatz how they were going to vote in November; 3 for Obama and 2 for Clinton … no mention of the 54 for McCain.”

If factual, than this is truly shameless. Why bother reporting the facts, lets just make another fluff piece for the media’s favorite candidate!

Buchanan Pimps Book on Nazi Radio

Why does this guy get invited to appear on cable news programs as if he is the patron saint of conservatism? From the New Republic:
“You read that right. On June 29th, MSNBC personality and three-time presidential candidate Pat Buchanan appeared on a neo-Nazi radio program to promote his new revisionist history of the Second World War, Churchill, Hitler, and the Unnecessary War: How Britain Lost Its Empire and the West Lost the World. James Edwards is the host of the program "Political Cesspool," the stated mission of which is to "represent a philosophy that is pro-White."

So can we call him an anti-Semitic racist now, or is this just a “Neocon Jew” ruse as Pat would argue?

Hitchens' has a fine take on Buchanan’s recent fascist apology. In many ways, I am pleased that his book has been talked about on many news-related talk shows. The argument that our current war is one of “choice,” and that WW2 was one of necessity rings hollow, and Buchanan is right on this point: there is always another negotiation a nation can engage in with the enemy. All wars are inherently ones of choice. There is always another concession you can make to appease the opposing side to avoid conflict. Just because Japan attacked Pearl Harbor does not necessitate an all out war between both sides; the U.S could have handed over Hawaii and let Japan control the entire Pacific Rim as well as most of Asia. We could have avoided war if we had given into their demands, and we could have surely saved a load of American lives in the process. I am not in favor of this strategy; I believe WW2 was a just fight, as I believe the war against Islamic totalitarianism is. So it shouldn’t be surprising that a character like Buchanan not only opposes our current fight, but also the most decisive one in recent memory.

Oh that Hitchens Watch

I troll through Christopher Hitchens Watch every now and then after noticing that some of the dimmest morons posting comments at Harry’s Place were affiliated with the site. So should I be surprised that they happen to be 9/11 Truthers as well?

No? .......Well I was just asking.

Democratic Activists Will Believe Anything

You would think that rescuing a handful of hostages who had been held for years by terrorists in Colombia without firing a single shot would be something worth celebrating on all ends of the political divide. Well think again! As some left-leaning pundits have been claiming (on networks like MSNBC no less), the whole event was manufactured to benefit McCain (who was in Colombia at the time). Here is what the Democratic Underground had to say:

“It was a set-up from the get-go, choreographed by the Bush administration and eagerly embraced by Colombia's narco-president, Alvaro Uribe. Yesterday's liberation of high-profile hostages in Colombia was merely the gloss for the larger rescue mission: to save Senator John McCain's flagging presidential campaign.”
Yep, this mission (that was in the works for years), was all an elaborate ploy by the McCain campaign. McCain had such foresight, that he was able to predict that he would be running for President and need a media boost at about this specific time. That McCain is a cunning guy I tell ya!

Some of our chums at the Huffington Post had this to say about the remarkable mission:
“This goes to show just how far the tentacles of the fascist machine go. What a manufactured event! People were trying to say it was only coincidence that McCain was there at the time.”
Now there are tentacles? This is turning into a bad Japanese animated porn film rather quick.
“Went to Colombia to talk about free trade my @$$!! This is so transparent!!”
You are right comrade: since McCain is part of the evil "Zionist" conspiracy, there is no moment in time where he isn’t involved in fooling the populace in the hope that he can create endless war and eat succulent babies.

Welcome to the activist wing of the Democratic Party!
